Substitute Paraprofessional/Classroom Assistant

Position Summary:
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with teachers to provide instructional and enrichment assistance to individual students, and large and small groups
- Supervises students in various school settings and situations, including classrooms, lunchroom, playground, bus lines, field trips, etc.
- Provides clerical support, including taking attendance, paper grading, student folders, typing and filing office support activities, etc.
- Assists in the maintenance of students’ records, such as grade records, diagnostic and achievement test scores, and others.
- Provides general assistance to students in non-instructional situations.
- May administer minor first aid in the absence of other personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Some additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Keep records on attendance, accidents and incidents
- Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Ensure the safety of students at all times
- Consult with Principal on responsibilities during the teacher’s absence
Candidate Profile
Education and Certification:
- High School Diploma and Experience in Education (Required)
- Substitute Authorization through CDE (Preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
Essential Physical Demands:
- While performing the physical duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to run a short distance, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Compensation: Classroom Support= $150 per day
