QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Administrative License or actively engaged in an approved Licensure program.
  2. Knowledge of Colorado School Law
  3. Three years of successful teaching and coaching experience
  4. Demonstrated administrative skills
  5. Excellent verbal and written skills
  6. Strong computer and technology skills
  7. Strong Knowledge of 21st Century educational environment and curriculum
  8. Ability to work effectively with students, coaches, teachers, parents, ethnic groups and other administrators
  9. Have a keen interest in athletics and an understanding of ethical conduct, psychology of
     coaching, financial planning, operational planning and public relations skills

           

REPORTS TO:  School Principal/Superintendent

 

SUPERVISES:  Staff members, coaches and athletic events

 

JOB GOAL:  To assist the principal in providing school-wide leadership, handle discipline issues and 
                         learn the role of principal and be in charge operating the Athletic Department.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  2. Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal.
  3. Supervises and evaluates staff
  4. Participates, with the principal, in developing yearly school goals, developing new programs, and modifying, and evaluating existing programs.
  5. Assists the principal in preparation of school regulations and policies.
  6. Attends school-sponsored activities.
  7. Helps oversee plant maintenance, operation, and safety. Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  8. Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conducts inventories; maintains records; and checks on receipts for such material.
  9. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with attendance supervisor and/or social worker for follow-up actions.
  10. Performs any other duties assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES OF ATHLETIC-ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

 

  1. The Athletic Director seeks to provide an articulated 6-12 interscholastic athletic program.  The    
              Athletic Director reports to and is evaluated by the site principal or designee/Superintendent.
  2. Requisitioning the athletic equipment for each sport.
  3. Closely cooperating with the site principal or designee and the coach involved to schedule contests, develop trip itinerary, provide travel accommodations, select and contract officials and make arrangements for conducting interscholastic contests in all sports.
  4. Organizing a training program for athletes in all sports.
  5. Keeping a record of the results of athletic contests and individuals who participated therein.
  6. Providing the Colorado High School Activities Association and the principal with a list of participants in each sport.
  7. Coordinating awards and the awards banquet, making sure that all names are listed and given credit for sports they participated in.
  8. Provide school personnel for supervision at all activities. Duties will be shared by other administrative personnel.
  9. Providing a program for repair, maintenance and upkeep of athletic equipment and facilities.
  10. Evaluating and recommending head coaching positions. Together with head coaches recommend assistants in 6-12 programs.
  11. Complete an evaluation form and hold a conference with all head coaches within three weeks after the conclusion of their sport season.
  12. Attending all league meetings
  13. Coordinating the use of fields, gymnasiums and auditorium
  14. Coordinate the use of all athletic facilities by groups outside the school with the respective building principal
  15. Providing and updating job descriptions for each coaching position.
  16. Meeting with coaches and reviewing Coaches Handbook.
  17. Responsible for the coordination and planning of Athletic budgets, meet with coaches and insure that all sports have equal opportunity to present budgets.
  18. Assist with or monitor the calendar of school activities and school website in conjunction with the principal, faculty and student body.
  19. Evaluate all athletic programs on an annual basis. Make recommendations for improvement to the building principal and district administrator
  20. Make all coaching recommendations in a timely manner.
  21. Mediate the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and athletic programs.
  22. Coordinate gym use for practices and games and give final clearance for the use of either the gym or the athletic field
  23. Coordinate with coaches, class sponsors, and other groups who want to raise money in the concession booths at all athletic games giving all interested groups equal time.
  24. Collect gate/door money at all games and tournaments. Money collected will be turned into the athletic director/administrator to be secured.

 

 

Terms of Employment

                  Salary:      Assistant Principal Salary Schedule

                 Work Schedule: 192 days per year

                 Benefits:    Full benefit package, including health, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, disability, personal leave, per diem when traveling.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
