TITLE:    

Elementary Grade Classroom Teacher

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Colorado Certification with an endorsement in Elementary Education
  2. Communication skills
  3. Experience working with elementary students
  4. Partnership building/teamwork skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work requires periods of light physical activity and requires long periods of time standing and/or sitting.  Most of the work is performed in the classroom setting.  Typically the position requires the employee to work in the classroom environment with multiple students; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards and chalkboards.

            Elementary School Principal

 

SUPERVISES:

Staff members designated by the Board, Superintendent or Principal where applicable

 

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To follow and implement appropriate curriculum within a flexible and cooperative environment, creating an effective rapport with students in order to develop skills, knowledge and integrity in order to be successful at the elementary school level within each student’s ability. In addition, establish and maintain good relationships with parents and fellow colleagues.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach reading, language arts, writing, mathematics, social studies and science to students in a classroom, using the curricula adopted by the Board of Education as per state grade level standards adopted by the Colorado Board of Education.
  1. Instruct students in citizenship according to state standards specified by the school district.
  2. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that provide individualized and small group instruction to differentiate curriculum to the needs of each student. Said plans are to offer learning experiences that best utilize the available time for instruction.
  3. Establish consistent classroom management techniques to achieve a safe and functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  4. Evaluate students’ academic and social growth keeping appropriate records preparing progress reports, report cards, cumulative files and ILPs (Individual Learning Plans).
  5. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means as necessary to discuss students’ progress, curriculum, and standards.
  6. Identify and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing students’ needs and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  7. Create an effective environment for learning.
  8. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional development activities.
  9. Attend faculty meetings, grade level meetings and other committees as instructed by the principal, working collaboratively with team planning.
  10. Adhere to budgetary limits, prepare electronic requisitions and classroom budgets for instructional supplies and maintain inventory records.
  11. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  12. Administer group and/or individualized standardized tests in accordance with grade level team, principal or district.
  13. Report to school on time: 7:40 a.m. leaving no earlier than 3:40 p.m.
  14. Participate in curriculum development programs as requested.
  15. Participate in school sponsored student activities when able.
  16. Participate in additional duties such as: valet duty, hallway monitor duty, recess duty, and family nights
  17. Complete year-end building check-out checklist.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary:                      Based upon the District’s adopted certified salary schedule

Work Schedule:       175 days per year or as designated by the annual school calendar. Salary and work-year is established by the board.

Benefits:                   Full benefit package – as described on the salary schedule

Hours:                      7.5 hour day as set by the principal. 

 

EVALUATION:
